Impaired Cerebral Spinal Fluid Circulation and its Treatment Utilizing Audio-visual Stimulation.
Improvements in imaging technology such as fMRI and BOLD, have provided the ability to observe impaired circulation of CSF has opened up the door to an entirely new concept as to the issues underlying glymphatic disorders. In fact, it appears that Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Post-concussion Encephalopathy (PCE) all share a common etiology; an impaired glymphatic system. It has been found that many things contribute to impaired CSF circulation. It was originally thought that only poor sleep contributed to poor CSF circulation. It is now known that a poor functioning HPA-Axis, chemo for cancer and viral infections, all contribute to impairment of the glymphatic system.
In 2023, a proof-of-concept study showed that periodic visual stimulation (PVS) could dramatically increase the circulation of CSF. Since then, PVS has been used in the treatment of Alzheimer, Parkinson’s and Covid. This technique promises to be an effective and affordable treatment for disorders of impaired CSF.
Although research is still new, A case of post-Covid return of sense of smell, a case of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s will be reviewed
